As a metapuzzle, this puzzle uses the answers from the previous seven puzzles:
- REDDER
- SKETCH
- GAUDIER
- LYING
- ASTHMA
- APHID
- YOGA
In addition, solvers are given clues which yield six additional words:
- A British fellow – CHAP
- The Mesozoic and the Cenozoic are two – ERAS
- Made a mistake – ERRED
- Lady with thirteen Grammy awards – GAGA
- Lazily or without purpose – IDLY
- Face covering or disguise – MASK
The key to solving this puzzle is realizing that the the previous puzzle answers can overlap with the extra words to form a single chain. (It is also possible to create a chain by leaving out ERRED and REDDER, but having words left over isn’t good.) It is not necessary to use the given framework to realize this, but it can provide a bit of a nudge for solvers who are stuck.
The letters from the puzzle answers which are not used in the overlapping words spell out the solution phrase YOU DID THE THING!
