[Solution] Art Gallery – 11 July 2022

Together, the eight puzzle answers from May-June contain all twenty-six letters of the alphabet. The letters D, E, and U all occur in multiple puzzles, but every other letter occurs uniquely in a single answer. A quick glance at the grid shows that those same letters are missing from there as well. From this, solvers can intuit that each square in the grid can be colored in with the color given in the puzzle.

  • Picture Questions (QUERY) = Q, R, Y
  • Every Which Way (GUMMED UP) = G, M, P
  • Fighting for Representation (SHE-HULK) = H, K, L, S
  • Japanese Fruit Salad (BANANA) = A, B, N
  • Couplets (WUV) = V, W
  • Animal Antics (OXIDIZED) = I, O, X, Z
  • Climbing the Ladder (DEJECTED) = C, J, T
  • Losing Battle (FEUD) = F

Coloring in the grid with the colors of the puzzle titles gives the following image:

This picture is recognizable as the classic Edvard Munch painting THE SCREAM. Hopefully this puzzle made you scream for joy, and not in frustration.
