[Solution] Cartoon Cliches – 19 August 2024

This puzzle can be solved by simply finding (one of) the characters from animated Disney movies that match each of the clues. However, this is made much simpler by the presence of the names of the characters hidden in the text. The characters are underlined below, and the movie titles are given.

  • It gives me entertainment when a scary one-handed man has a goofy sidekick. (Smee, from Peter Pan)
  • People always talk about how cool a friend would be, and then they make one, as if by magic. (Olaf, from Frozen)
  • It is inevitable that every rogue will meet someone that they would call a dynamite gal. (Lady, from Lady and the Tramp)
  • Whenever deals between the main character and the villain occur, Su laughs at them, but I’ve seen it all before. (Ursula, from The Little Mermaid)
  • In the current kick that I’m on, there’s always a pair of comic relief characters with a cool new motto. (Timon, from The Lion King)
  • There usually is a belauded figure who everybody expects to be perfect and full of flowers at all times. (Isabel, from Encanto)
  • The main character often ends up joining a gang of big-hearted scoundrels who live right on the street. (Oliver, from Oliver and Company)
  • I don’t want to watch one more movie where the title character gets lost and has to be found. I would rather go to the dentist. (Nemo, from Finding Nemo)
  • I don’t know what makes some daft inker bellow, “Let’s have the side character get jealous and betray the heroes!” (Tinkerbell, from Peter Pan)
  • When I asked her for a pun, Zelda pointed to The Gift of the Magi, saying “Hair today; gone tomorrow.” (Rapunzel, from Tangled)
  • The word ‘duo’ doesn’t apply to witches – they are always found in groups of three. (Orddu, from The Black Cauldron)
  • I keep on going to movies where children are kidnapped and their father has to travel across the country to rescue them. (Pongo, from 101 Dalmatians)
  • As well, I even see characters who die within the first ten minutes of the movie to cause the whole journey of the heroes. (Ellie, from Up)

The first letters of these hidden characters spell out SOLUTION TROPE. The answer to this puzzle is TROPE.
